Iron Cross Music Band
Burma’s most popular rock star, Lay Phyu, stepped back into the spotlight in August after a self-imposed absence of two years, drawn by the plight of Cyclone Nargis victims to star in a fund-raising concert. Lay Phyu was last seen on stage in 2006 at a 15th anniversary concert of his band Iron Cross. He has never explained why he stopped performing.
The Burmese audience gave Lay Phyu a thunderous welcome back to the stage. Joining him on the program at Rangoon’s Thuwanah sports stadium were three other popular rockers—Ahnge, Myo Gyi and Wyne Wyne. The concert was organized by the Myanmar Music Association.
